Why you should march at SlutWalk

Howdy boys!

So, here’s why you should check out, care about, and participate in SlutWalk.

While it may be true that mostly feminine genders and women are targeted by degrading calls of “slut,” allies, those who are cisgender guys, often enable or perpetuate this behavior by not stepping up or calling sexist behavior out.  But now here’s your chance!

I encourage everyone, no matter their gender stripes to dress sassy and march together to combat sexism.  Here’s the about description from the on here in Chicago:

On January 24, 2011, a representative of the Toronto Police Service was quoted saying, “Women should avoid dressing like sluts in order to not be victimized.”

Slutwalk Chicago aims to combat the myth of “the slut” and the culture of victim blaming that prevails the world over.

Our mission is to enforce the truth that those who experience sexual assault are never at fault– no exceptions.  We seek to combat a culture that teaches “don’t get raped,” as opposed to “don’t rape.”

Slutwalk Chicago is for everyone: singles, couples, parents, sisters, brothers, friends.  People of any age, race, gender, trans status, and sexual-orientation are welcome!  Come walk, roll, strut, holler, and stomp with us in demand of a revised cultural attitude toward sexual assault and rape.

Reclaim your sluttiness!  Because it’s your choice to dress how ever you want, and engage in consensual sexytimes with whoever you want!

Chicago – see you this Saturday, June 4th, 11 AM at the Thompson Center Plaza (click here for more info)
